National Trust

logo

Work for this important environmental and conservation charity, supported now by an astonishing 4.7 million members, has included: managing the compilation of its annual Handbook of places to visit (more than 400 are included) for many years - latterly as YMM; writing letters and creating newsletters for specific segments of its supporter base (including members in the UK and overseas, farm and cottage tenants and major donors), and; creating appeal literature.

Royal Oak Foundation (USA)

logo

The 20,000 supporters of the Royal Oak Foundation - a not for profit organisation in the United States - generously support the built, cultural and natural heritage of the UK, principally those places in the care of the National Trust. YMM has designed, organised and led their Board Directors' week-long Educational tours of UK heritage sites for the last six years and is currently organising their seventh tour, this time to North Wales. Regions and nations visited to date include London and the South East (2011), East Midlands (2012), East of England (2013), South West (2014), Yorkshire (2015) and Northern Ireland (2016). YMM also writes for the Royal Oak newsletter, has organised and co-led a week's UK tour for ROF's senior staff and organised and led a week-long tour of great gardens in Kent and East Sussex. Since January 2014 YMM has been working with the National Trust's central, regional and property teams to increase the number of members joining ROF from among American visitors to National Trust properties. In just three full years, numbers of new ROF members recruited in the UK have more than doubled and the still ambitious campaign enters its fourth year in 2017.

Watts Gallery Artists' Village

logo

YMM worked with staff and volunteers at Watts Gallery, Compton near Guildford in Surrey, to explore ways in which membership of the Friends could be both significantly expanded and made yet more enjoyable. A full review was conducted, including online surveys, a workshop and site-wide interviews, leading to the presentation of a full report with recommendations, many of which have been implemented subsequently. At a later date, YMM was asked to help with the recruitment of a new Development Manager.

International National Trusts Organisation (INTO)

logo

INTO is a self-help grouping of National Trusts and like-minded bodies from across the world, and YMM was asked to help organise a very special event at Clarence House in London, generously hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales, to celebrate the landmark achievement of reaching 50 organisations in membership. YMM also helped INTO with its fundraising strategy and with approaches to potential major donors. Membership - including full and associate members - has since reached 65.

Sussex Wildlife Trust

logo

The Sussex Wildlife Trust, one of the 47 such county-based Trusts across the UK, is already successful and asked YMM to help sustain its positive progress by developing an integrated membership and fundraising strategy. Working with staff and a focus group of members and Trustees, YMM developed the strategy over a twelve-month period in 2011 - 2012. Membership and fundraising income have continued to strengthen subsequently.

The Roman Baths, Bath

logo

YMM worked with Bath & North East Somerset Council to explore the potential for a start-up membership or supporter scheme and then to develop the detail of a practical scheme, from founding principles to launch. The scheme was intended to sustain interest in and provide a vehicle for increased support for the Roman Baths, the major, internationally important visitor attraction which the Council manages directly. A well-attended public consultation meeting provided valuable feedback for the scheme's ongoing development and an Educational Foundation has subsequently been launched.

The Royal Landscape

logo

YMM worked with the operations team at The Royal Landscape, which manages the Savill Garden, Valley Gardens and Virginia Water in Surrey, to see how best to streamline their various membership and season ticket schemes. A thorough research phase was followed in May 2013 by a full report complete with no fewer than 48 recommendations, many of which have since been implemented (including a new CRM system for membership records).

Nuffield Health

logo

YMM contributed an interactive session to a day's workshop with reception staff from Nuffield Health's Fitness & Wellbeing Centres across the UK, to develop customer service skills and awareness, helping towards their objective of 'Our customers [being] at the centre of everything we do'.

Robert Welch Designs Ltd

logo

This major designer and producer of fine cutlery and other items for the home, based in Chipping Campden in the heart of the Cotswolds, has a great heritage and is looking to grow by extending its customer reach. YMM conducted in-depth research with different departments at the company and among many other suggestions, recommended development of a new, fully fledged e-commerce website and the introduction of a company-wide customer relationship management (CRM) system. Both would support this growing family company in realising their strategic goals for the business.

Living Literature Society

logo

The Living Literature Society is mostly based in and around London and aims to bring the literary greats to life through theatrical performances and special literary talks. YMM was retained to advise on membership, marketing and event matters, helping to develop the Society's membership, extend their reach to new audiences and to prosper and grow their work.

Glastonbury Abbey

logo

YMM worked with the staff team at Glastonbury Abbey, Somerset, to explore the potential for a new membership scheme to replace a season ticket operation. Core to the programme was a lively staff workshop, designed and facilitated by YMM Managing Director Alex Youel. A new scheme incorporating elements of the YMM recommendations was subsequently introduced.

Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity

logo

YMM was asked to review copy and advise on overall shape for a specialist brochure intended for potential major donors to these critically important and world-famous heart and lung hospitals in London.
